Pump It Up Exceed is a dance simulation game with 3D animation, and is the fifth game in the Pump It Up series. The game allows players to select a song, choose a category such as Banya Category, POP Category and Korea Song Category and select their chosen level of difficulty. Players then step on the machine's pads as they light up to the beat of the music, and are given a score based on their performance. If a player can complete three songs in A grade, they have the option to play the bonus stage. On completion of the bonus stage, the player is given a four digit code ranking, which they can then use to register an international ranking.
